The works of Belgian artist Koenraad Dedobbeleer (1975) sharpen our perspective of a multilayered relationship of objects and their appearance, in sculptures that are simultaneously sculpture and also serve as the pedestal of another sculpture, or a photograph that shows a sculpture, or better put, an object, that can be read as sculpture due to its placement, or found objects that are enlarged and refer to their original while at the same time taking on a different form. Apparently everyday objects are liberated from their standard use and undergo in their recontextualization a revaluation.

Koenraad Dedobbeleer constructs references that prove to be traps of perception. He then again creates objects whose individual elements can seem generally familiar, yet are able to disturb. In light of the exhibition site in question, the artist modifies usually functional objects like tables, perforated intermediate walls or columns, often using photographs, projections, and film, or individual writing elements. Objects and elements are developed into larger units and amalgamate to form spaces in which the individual parts comment on one another on different levels.

Koenraad Dedobbeleer had many solo shows at institutional venues in Europe, such as: Kunstverein Hannover, Germany (2019); CAC, Vilnius, Luthuania (2019); La Salle de bains, Lyon, France (2019); Kunstmuseum Winterthur, Switzerland (2019); WIELS, Brussels, Belgium (2018); Extra City Kunsthal, Antwerp, Belgium (2014); Gesellschaft Aktueller Kunst, Bremen, Germany (2014); De Vleeshal, Middelburg, The Netherlands (2013); Le Crédac: Centre d’art contemporain d’Ivry, Ivry-sur-Seine, France (2013); Castillio / Coralles, Paris, France (2012); Lok/Kunstmuseum, St. Gallen, Switzerland (2012); Culturgest, Lisbon, Portugal (2010); Museum Haus Esters, Krefeld, Germany (2009); Museum Abteiberg, Mönchengladbach, Germany (2007). His work has also been shown in numerous group exhibitions.

Dedobbeleer lives and works in Brussels, Belgium. He is represented by C.L.E.A.R.I.N.G. in Brussels / New York, Mai 36 in Zürich and PROJECTESD in Barcelona.
